Fostering Safety in Our Neighborhoods

I am engaging in productive dialogue with our Police Department and Eastside Fire and Rescue team, gaining insights into their needs and the challenges our community faces. Creating safe and welcoming neighborhoods will be my top priority as a council member.

Recently, I've listened to our Human Services team about homelessness, emphasizing the importance of collaboration to address this pressing issue and provide essential support to those in need through our Homeless Outreach Program, which connects individuals with shelter, rental assistance, and health insurance.

In Issaquah, we have several vital programs, including Block Watch, which encourages neighbors to collaborate in reporting suspicious activity, and Paws on Patrol, where dog walkers serve as extra eyes and ears for the police. Our CERT Training prepares residents to assist themselves and their neighbors during disasters. Additionally, the Vision Zero initiative aims to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries through proactive safety improvements.

By fostering strong relationships between law enforcement, Human Services, and residents, we can cultivate a safer, more inclusive environment. Together, we can create a future where safety, respect, and support for all individuals are paramount in our community.
